Nelson Engineering has decades of experience identifying projects and project funding sources that enhance local economies, upgrade public infrastructure, and improve quality of life. Our grant writing and administrative team is backed by a pool of engineers and technicians ready to assist with project feasibility studies, engineering cost estimates, and constructability reviews.

We communicate effectively with staff, elected officials, agencies, stakeholders, and communities to ensure a successful project.  Although each project is unique, grant administration requires a skill set that includes detailed budget analysis, the ability to apply master planning concepts, effective application preparation and delivery, and public presentation preparation.

Our grant administration experience includes:

  • Rural Development
  • State Departments of Environmental Quality
  • State Departments of Transportation
  • Resource Conservation Districts
  • Wyoming State Loan and Investment Board (SLIB)
  • Wyoming Water Development Commission (WWDC)
  • Wyoming Business Council (WBC)
  • Idaho Office of Energy Resources

Three recent projects funded in whole or part by grants are:

Town of Granger, Wyoming

This project involved the design and construction of a new 500,000 gallon concrete water tank to provide adequate water pressure and fire supply throughout the Town’s distribution system as well as to improve the Town’s ability to attract light industrial development. The primary funding source was a 67%-33% matching grant from the Wyoming Water Development Commission.

City of Driggs, Idaho

This downtown economic development project was funded with Community Development Block Grant funds and leveraged by the City of Driggs and its Urban Renewal Agency. The project’s success was due, in part, to effective communication and participation with agencies, stakeholders, public officials, and the community.

Town of Dubois, Wyoming

The repair or replacement of multiple sanitary sewer mains and the construction of a new lift station was funded by a creative mix of Town of Dubois, Fremont County, Wyoming State Loan and Investment Board, and federal Rural Development sources.
