Nelson Engineering has completed highway, road, and street projects for a variety of clients, including the Wyoming Department of Transportation, the U.S. Forest Service, counties, towns, and private developers. Each category of roadway or street requires engineering and design to meet the criteria for that particular category. Nelson Engineering relies on AASHTO, WYDOT, ITE, and ASCE design guidelines and criteria. Many times county and/or town requirements must also be met.

Often traffic routes and rights-of-way also serve as utility corridors and surface water drainage ways. Consequently, the engineering firm must accommodate and blend the various functions required for a roadway.

The personnel at Nelson Engineering work interactively with those interest groups affected by a roadway/street project to pinpoint the needs to be satisfied by the new design and also to ascertain the constraints that must be addressed. The interaction continues through the construction phase.

Bridges inspire people. Poets, artists, and the ordinary person are moved by a graceful structure serving its purpose. Whether spanning a flood, a deep gorge, or simply crossing an irrigation ditch, bridges make our pathway easier to travel. They come in all size and types; they carry foot traffic, cars, and trains. Bridges are a part of our everyday life.

Nelson Engineering has designed bridges since 1964, which are still in existence. Their initial cost has long since been amortized. They continue to provide full service for which they were designed.
